.... do not work at my library.

We've had 2 computers down for the last week. On one, the monitor died (making much the same noise as the fan belt in my car - eek!). On the other, the keyboard just spontaneously stopped working. OK, no problem, replace the keyboard.

That didn't work, either.

OK, no problem, Windows has a troubleshooting feature, right?

Right, except we couldn't access it without logging into Admin, which we couldn't do because we couldn't type in the password.

So, while we were pondering a way around this (or rather, I was; I have a feeling Melissa was just ignoring it in the hopes it would go away), Janis (Boss Lady) came upstairs & wanted to know why we had 2 dead computers. We explained. She said, Let me take a look. She pulled the tower out from under the table, got down on the floor in what *were* nice new black pants, muttered a few dark comments about how Doug needs to vacuum more often -

- and discovered the keyboard was plugged into the mouse port.

(Which begs the question of what the mouse port was plugged into, but we didn't get into that.)

I've said it before, I'll say it again - computers are great when they work. When they don't, they're tools of Satan.

Y'know, I sorta feel obliged to stick up for the 'pooter here. Wasn't its fault the keyboard was plugged into the wrong port....*ducks and runs, leaving Hob Nobs behind as a peace offering*

Sneaky Mitchy, knowing I won't kill you cause you gave me Hob Nobs!

I suspect that one of the patrons kicked the cord out, and then tried to plug it back in w/o actually looking at what they were doing.
